Signs Your Daughter's Bra Isn't Fitting Right

Signs Your Daughter's Bra Isn't Fitting Right

By: Lindsay Lam

As your daughter goes through puberty, one of the new milestones she’ll encounter is finding the right bra. It might seem like a small detail, but a well-fitting bra can significantly impact her comfort, confidence, and overall well-being. On the flip side, an ill-fitting bra can lead to discomfort and may even affect her self-esteem. Here’s how you, as a mom, can help identify the signs that her bra might not be fitting right.

1. straps digging in or slipping off

One of the most obvious signs of a poor bra fit is when the straps are either too tight or too loose. If the straps are digging into her shoulders, they might be too tight, leading to uncomfortable indentations and potential irritation. She might complain about red marks and itchiness on her shoulders. And if the straps are constantly slipping off her shoulders, they could be too loose and don’t offer enough support.

2. the band rides up

The band of a bra should stay level around her body. If you notice that the band is riding up in the back, it’s a sign that it’s too loose. A properly fitting band should sit comfortably around the ribcage and remain level, providing the necessary support. If the band isn’t fitting correctly, it can lead to discomfort and inadequate support for your daughter.

3. cup gaps or spillage

When the cups of the bra have gaps, or if there’s noticeable spillage over the top, it’s a sign that the cup size might be incorrect. Gaps can mean the cups are too large, while spillage indicates they’re too small. Both scenarios can cause discomfort and make your daughter feel self-conscious. There’s nothing worse than a cup bra that feels suffocating, which is why we recommend ditching them completely for teens! Sizes can be inconsistent especially as your teen develops and outgrows her bras - that’s why we designed bras that grow with her, with sizes based on her underbust.

4. underwire discomfort

For bras with underwires, discomfort around the underarm or at the center of the chest can be a sign that the underwire is not sitting properly. The underwire should follow the natural curve of the ribcage and not press into the skin. If it feels uncomfortable or pokes through the fabric, it’s probably time to replace her bras - broken underwires that protrude can be so painful!

5. inconsistent support

A well-fitting bra should provide consistent support. If your daughter finds that she has to frequently adjust her bra throughout the day or that it doesn’t offer the support she needs, it’s a sign that the fit might be off. Her bra should support her without needing constant readjustment.

why we designed the comfiest teen bras

Finding the right bra for your teen can be challenging, so we created a collection of comfy bras that make the transition easier and more comfortable:

  1. No cups or wires: Designed without cups or underwires for a natural, comfortable fit that allows for free movement while offering support throughout her day.
  2. Bras that grow with her: Our bras are made from super stretchy materials that adapt to your daughter’s changing body through puberty. We made sure the straps were adjustable for a customized fit, so nothing is ever too tight! And if your daughter wants her straps hidden, simply criss-cross the straps for any tank top or halter top.
  3. Moisture-wicking fabric: Keeps your active teen dry and cool with fabric that manages sweat effectively. We choose the highest quality fabrics that are both comfortable and long-lasting!
  4. Easy sizing: No more complicated cup sizes! Finding her perfect fit requires only one underbust measurement with the help of our simple size guide.
  5. Designed to last through puberty: Durable enough to handle the changes during puberty and grow with her needs, you won’t find yourself constantly replacing bras when she outgrows them.
  6. Removable padding: Let your teen choose her level of support! We double line all of our bras, so nothing shows through even without padding.

Our bras are designed to meet the unique needs of growing teens. They provide comfort, flexibility, and durability, making them the best choice for your daughter as she grows up. With our bras, you’re not just investing in her wardrobe; you’re investing in her comfort and confidence during these formative years.
